The replicants are juxtaposed with human people who are unempathetic, and whilst the replicants clearly show enthusiasm and problem for each other the mass of humanity about the streets is chilly and impersonal. The movie goes so far as to put in doubt the nature of Deckard and forces the audience to reevaluate what this means to generally be human
